Mt 21.1-9 pericope exegesis using intertextual perspective and reception theory
Konupková, Kateřina ; Lukeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Beneš, Jiří (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of intertextuality in the context of biblical studies, specifically focusing on the exegesis of the passage Matthew 21:1-9. It consists of two main parts. The first part describes the term "intertextuality" itself, its origin, various interpretations by different authors, and its application in biblical studies. The issue of intertextuality is comparatively demonstrated using the presented types of intertextuality and their intricacies. Chapters 1 and 2 cover this part. The second part focuses on a specific exegesis of Matthew's passage 21:1-9. This part is described in Chapter 3. Through biblical exegesis, the intertextual relationships between the Old and New Testaments are outlined, utilizing specific biblical passages for this ad hoc purpose. My intention is to demonstrate through the interpretation of these biblical passages how the author of the Gospel of Matthew attempts to convince his readers about Jesus's messianism in a particular manner, employing afformentioned intertextual methods.

The Boook of Ruth: Narrative Analysis of the Text
Kreutziger, Kamil ; Beneš, Jiří (advisor) ; Roubalová, Marie (referee)
The conclusion of this thesis brings an understanding of the deeper meaning of the book of Ruth and its role in the lives of God's followers. The application of the tools of narrative analysis clearly showed that on the background of Naomi and Ruth's deeply human story unfolds another one. It is the story of the Lord who is invisibly directing events and human destinies to present and reveal the work and mission of his Messiah to the whole mankind. The main characters in the story provide an eloquent example of faith to follow and in a very plastic way imply the role of the Redeemer. Thus the story builds up faith of people in the Lord and prepares them to recognize and accept his Messiah. And this may be the mission and function of the book of Ruth in the biblical canon. Reflexion of Child's "Canonical Approach"
Pavlík, Mikuláš ; Beneš, Jiří (advisor) ; Hrabáková, Eva (referee)
Anotation This diploma thesis "Reflection of the Canonical Approach of Brevard S. Childs" deals with the charakteristic focuses and postulates of the canonical approach of Brevard S. Childs with focusing on his two important publications: Introduction to the Old Testament as Scripture (1979) and Biblical Theology of the Old and New Testaments (1993). It shows a short intersection of his longterm academic exploratory work and with respect to the interpretative emphasis describes a brief overview of history of the canon exploration from the Reformation to the so called New Biblical Theology. The content centre of the diploma thesis is to introduce the main methological foundations of Childs'canonical approach with regard to its central postulates - for example: canonical intentionality, final form of the text, etc. and to those hermeneutical elements which are applicable in practical pastoral work of the church. At the end of the diploma thesis there is a short practical guide to the theological exegesis based on the main hermeneutical principles of the Childs'canonical approach.

Matthew 10,16 - exegesis and history of interpretation
Černá, Venuše ; Mrázek, Jiří (advisor) ; Pokorný, Petr (referee)
Matthew 10.16, which uses metaphorical statements known from Greek and Jewish literature, stands at the center of the second great discourse of the Gospel of Matthew (missionary speech) as a bridge between the first and second parts, which briefly summarizes its basic themes − Jesus' sending the disciples, their situation in a hostile world and features needed to fulfill this task in these conditions. In my own translation, I decided to keep the words (omitted in some translations) that have an important function in the text − "behold" (as macrosyntactical signal, which focuses attention on new important theme), "I" (as emphasis on the person of a speaker who is at once a Shepherd, Sheep and Lamb) and "therefore" (as emphasis on necessity of these properties which follows from the facts mentioned in the previous sentence − both from their task and their position as disciples in a hostile world). I prefer the word "pure" for the translation of properties of doves, which (in my opinion) aptly expresses the importance of both textual variants without the negative connotations of the word "simple" (as naive or stupid). Prudence is not only a way to avoid danger, but rather finding ways to fulfill the task. Purity means that the disciple is not adapt to this world (to be a wolf among wolves), but follow...
The Ten Commandments (Ex 20 and Dt 5); Exegesis and Placement in the Canonical and Historical Context and Theological Profile
Polcer, Josef ; Sláma, Petr (advisor) ; Sláma, Petr (referee)
This thesis presents the basic exegesis of the Old Testament text in the second book of Moses Chapter 20 and in the fifth book Moses chapter 5. It seeks to inclusion in the historical framework with regard to basic theological accents. For the most part is on the historical-critical approach, which revealed the formation of the text in the course of history and its position in the context of the Old Testament canon. Almost certainly it can be said that the final text of the Ten Commandments is set in the deuteronomistic history that was specific to their linguistic terminology and theological accents.
